Once I realized I needed the Velociraptor unlocked to finish that puzzle, I looked up how to unlock it and went into the mission that I needed to in free play to get the raptor Amber. I then notice another collectable activity behind me and abandoned the gallimimus for a while to go do that. On I picked up the food, the interaction point with the gallimimus appeared.
